Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen! (Psa. 72:19)
It has been an awesome experience to be among the Peruvian mountain people for a few days. I was blessed to get to know them and preach in two churches. It is a privilege to serve God in Peru, USA, or anywhere else.
I must bless God’s name for His creation. I marvel at the wonders of God’s creation. I stand amazed at His handiwork. Too often we are dull to the wonders of God’s creation around us because we see them everyday, but a trip like this brings every thing into focus. We serve a creative and awesome God.
When I see the amazing creation that I experienced this week I am reminded of Paul’s letter to the Romans,
For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse (Rom 1:19-20).
Paul tells us that God’s eternal power and divine nature are revealed to us in His creation. We can look at the wonders and stand amazed and come to the conclusion the there is a God. Paul even tells us based on His creation we are without excuse when we don’t acknowledge Him.
But because the sinful mind is so corrupt and lost in sin they look at creation and instead of recognizing God, Paul says,
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen (Rom1:24-25).
God gives us up to the sinful desires of our hearts and minds because we fail to acknowledge Him. Instead our corrupt minds exchange the truth for a lie and we look at the creation and worship it instead of the Creator.
Humanity was created to worship, so we as humans will worship something. Idolatry comes in many shapes and forms. We can worship a false god or the cash you have in your pocket. We can worship the earth or trust in ourselves instead of God. Don’t exchange God’s creation for idolatry in any form just stand in awe of its beauty and bless God.
